Hello, and welcome to my blog. If this is your first time, thanks for stopping by! I'm not one for making lengthy posts, but I thought since it's a new year that I would take you on the little journey that I've been on.
For my, well, entire life I have lived with fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of disappointment. Fear has this funny quality about it. It's like that needy person that wants to hang out and after one coffee date you're BFFs. Then suddenly, they are calling everyday insisting to hangout. And before you know it, BFFL's (that best friends for LIFE). We all know what I’m talking about right? In some way or another we all struggle with fear.
The truth is, fear is something that holds us all back. We are all afraid of something. We all have obstacles we need to conquer. But guys, when we live in fear we are held back, held captive from the very freedom we deep down want to experience.
It’s hard to get away from fear, especially when it's incessantly calling Ev.ERY. Day. But when we let go of fear, when we cry out (or whisper) 'yes' to overcoming challenges or to walking into uncertainty or refusing to pick up the phone (we are NOT BFFL's) we find freedom! Already this year I have been taking (sometimes tiny) steps of courage into the world of unknown and uncertainty. This year I’ve decided to take a stand against fear and to walk into complete and total freedom!
You're probably thinking, "Well Sarah, that's great and all, but what does this have to do with photography?" Well, everything. When we walk in fear, we become hindered in all aspects of life, it leaks into everything we do. Every day life, including business, photography.
So, I’m leaving fear in 2017! That means doing things that would normally terrify me. Diving in and not (or trying not to) look back. And if I do, I’ll take a deep breath and try not to look back again. And if I do again...well you get the point, this is a process.
To bring you up to speed with my business and the (somewhat) purpose of this blog is to show you some new things I’ve been stepping into. One, writing this blog entry (trust me, putting this out there is scarier for me than you think) and changing up my editing style (that one is even more vulnerable and terrifying). This may seem weird to write a whole blog post to say this but it’s really just one of the tiny steps to walking into freedom.
So, take a browse. Check out my new editing style. If anything, I hope that you are encouraged in your own life to say 'yes' to the things that are holding you back.
