It was a beautiful day spent with 35 of their closest friends and family joining together to celebrate two becoming one. I was thrilled when I received the text from Cecily inquiring about wedding photos. I was excited to hear she was getting married and I’d hope her and her fiancé would pick me to do their wedding. A couple days went by and I heard back from Cecily. I smiled from ear to ear as I read their email - I was so honoured and excited to have the opportunity to take their wedding photos!
To give you a little background of how I know Cecily is we met when I worked at a small town Saskatchewan Bible School. I started working there 6 years ago and Cecily was a student my first year working there. I had the opportunity of getting to know her really well and I loved every time we chatted. Cecily is someone who carries a lot of wisdom, grace and love. Whenever you are around her you automatically feel loved and cared for - that your words and presence truly matter. It’s truly a blessing to find someone like that in your life!
I met Jonathan over a Zoom meeting with Cecily to talk about their wedding. I could tell that he was caring, confident and easy to get to know. I was pleased to meet the man that Cecily was going to marry and it was an amazing feeling knowing that he was going to lead her and love her incredibly well. These two were a match made straight from Heaven!
The day of the wedding was perfect - it was filled with an incredible amount of joy and peace. As the girls got ready I stepped into the room with the dress and accessories to take photos, I can’t remember the last time that I felt that much creativity right as I started shooting - it was so fun! The weather for the wedding couldn’t have been timed more perfectly. Even though the day started out with overcast and sprinkling of rain, by the time the ceremony was over and family photos were ready, the weather was perfect (overcast and no rain). As we took portraits and bridal party photos we had the best weather and the most fun. They even brought masks and hockey sticks as a little bit of a fun props for the photos.
The reception was located at Seoul Korean restaurant. We were served the most amazing food and in abundance (there's no way any of us there would have left hungry!). The restaurant was filled with so much love, joy and laughter - making the wedding feel very personal, intimate and just like we were all family. The night was finished off with Jonathan & Cecily doing the jive as their first dance. It was so fun watching the joy that filled their faces as they twirled and danced the night away.
What a beautiful day it was spent celebrating two amazing people. Congrats to you Jonathan + Cecily! <3
